God never sent most of these preachers that parade themselves around. Rather there God is their belly. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus, but their own belly and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple (Rom. 16:18). It is a shame because Jesus instructed his minister in Mt. 10:8 to heal the sick, raise the dead, cast our devil; maintaining that freely we have received and freely we must give out. It is unfortunate that people love not the truth (2 Tim. 4:3-4). They flock around where they will be charged senior realms of thousands, only to receive false deliverance and false prophecy (vision). Where you can’t find this assistance, pray this: Lord Jesus, I realize that I am a sinner who cannot save him/herself. I believe you died for my sins to redeem me to yourself. I cry unto you now to forgive me all my sins and my wasted years. I have decided and ready to follow you and live for you all the days of my life. I denounce my membership in any negative place. You said in your word that he that comes unto you; you shall in no wise cast out. O Lord, wash me with your precious blood and make me born again. Come into my life as my personal Lord and Savior. So one will ask, “Who among these are really born again”? The answer is not farfetched. The real born again are very few, hidden and known by God. Whenever you come across them, you will know from their life style that they are born again without being told. So leave the glamour and fantasies you see in churches and run personally to Jesus. Jesus is outside all these churches and is knocking, calling on the members, “If any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come into him and sup with him and he with me” (Rev. 3:20). I use to think Jesus was talking to unbelievers. Thus, I used that scripture only on evangelism. One day the Spirit of the Lord opened my eyes to verse 22 of the same Revelation chapter 3: He that hath an ear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the Churches.
I recall the revival that broke out with the SU group in the early 70s just after Nigerian civil war. Believers preached by the Spirit of the Lord and emphasized John 3:3 – Jesus answered and said unto him, verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nobody wants to miss the kingdom of God. So people were converted to the evangelical faith. This gave birth to Pentecostal fellowships in Nigeria. It was non denominational at first, but towards the late 70s and into the 80s the spirit of denominationalism took over and we started hearing such names as: CPM, Deeper life, Redeemed, etc. When it seemed to be a mass exodus of people from the orthodox churches to the Pentecostal fellowships, the leaders of these churches were moved by the spirit of Satan to device a scheme to trap their members and substitute for the born again syndrome they were rushing after. For instance, the mother of churches produced successive charismatic movements; Bible instructors union and such groups that will mimic evangelical movements. Thereby, the members will see no reason to leave; after all, what is there is also here. Please reason along with the Spirit of God. Evangelical fellowship in Anglican Communion also sprang up. But among these, I discovered that whenever the Lord opens the eye of anyone, such will have no other option than to leave.
The Catholic Church tells her members that they are born again because they are baptized, confirmed and serve God, receiving Holy Communion. They define baptism as the sacrament that washes away Adamic sins. I wonder how water other than the blood of Jesus can enter the heart and wash away sin. John the Baptist was baptizing before Jesus manifested. Yet he pointed to Christ and the need for salvation in him despite his baptism. Many other churches also hold the view that when you are baptized, you are born again. Thus, a child that cannot take decision is stood for by the God parents. Some Jehovah witness tried to explain to me that when they declare to follow Jehovah before people after their baptism, is when they are born again. There are modern Holy Ghost fire churches that tell their followers they are born again the moment they start speaking in tongues. Some go ahead to teach them how they would be speaking. Today, to be in fashion everybody including the Sabbath, Cherubim, Olumba-Olumba, Hare-Krishna, Aladura, Eckankar, all claim to be born again.
But the foundation of God stands sure. Let all men be liars and God be truth. Forever, the Word of God is settled. If God could not spare his only son, He cannot bend His word for any man. God does not respect any. See Col 3:25. There is going to be a very big surprise/disappointment on the last day. Majority of Christendom will suddenly realize that they have been deceived, thinking they are born again, when they are not. They are to hear depart from me, I know you not. God forbid. Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter and as a bird from the hand of the fowler (Prov. 6:5).
The parable of the prodigal son shows the true repentance of a seed of God. The Bible says that Godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation that cannot be repented thereof (2 Cor 7:10). Thus when someone is genuinely born again, the same can never regret in the future why he/she took that decision. The prodigal son said, “I will arise and go to my father and I will say unto him, Father I have sinned against heaven and before thee (Lk 15:18). The moment he came to himself (verse 17), he took that decision. He did not postpone it even a minute further. The Bible said: “Behold now is accepted time, behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Cor 6:2b). His father saw him from a distance and rushed after him. He commanded his servants to wash him and change his garment. So God washes a sinner with the blood of Jesus and changes his garment from sin to righteousness. Thus the new creation (2 Cor 5:17) does not struggle to live a holy life. Repentance is the responsibility of man; whereas the transformation of life (born again) is God’s responsibility.
Assuming the prodigal son stopped at his decision (repentance) without going to his father, he would have been like the Christian church goers of today that are religious without Christ. Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye must be born again. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit (John 3:7,6). Therefore being born again is a spiritual exercise. The man created in Gen. 1:26, which is the real man is a spirit being. This is the personality that returns to God after death. This is not visible, but this exercise in the spirit can be felt, just as we can feel breeze passing us without seeing it (Jn 3:8). It is God that knows how He regenerates the spirit man to become born into God’s family. All we have to do is to repent from our sins and go to God in faith; then experience Jesus coming into your life as your personal Lord and savior. This is felt as I am feeling the clothes I am wearing. When this happens, the person notices unspeakable bundle of spiritual joy followed by peace of heart. Assurance of salvation and the outward manifestation of the new life in Christ also follow. It is good and recommendable for a born again Christian that had experienced all these to assist the person.
Where you can’t find this assistance, pray this: Lord Jesus, I realize that I am a sinner who cannot save him/herself. I believe you died for my sins to redeem me to yourself. I cry unto you now to forgive me all my sins and my wasted years. I have decided and ready to follow you and live for you all the days of my life. I denounce my membership in any negative place. You said in your word that he that comes unto you; you shall in no wise cast out. O Lord, wash me with your precious blood and make me born again. Come into my life as my personal Lord and Savior. Let your Spirit lead me henceforth and give me power to live above sin. I promise never to return to sin. Dear Lord, I confess that I will go with you when you shall appear. Let nothing stand between me and the translation of the bride. Make me an over comer of this age. Precious Lord, give me power to make myself ready all the time; not having spot, wrinkle, blame or any such thing. Have your way in my life and thanks a lot for accepting me; for in Jesus mighty name I have prayed – Amen!
