SNARES OF PORNOGRAPY

Our nation and the world as we know it is drowning in a sea of sensuality. Immorality has taking its toll on the nation. Ninety-nine per cent of the people we see on the streets today are neither struggling nor revenging on immorality.
A man of God gave a prophecy on how our generation will look like at the end of the age. “Blood will run hot in people’s vein; money will be its god, pleasure its high priest and unbridle passion the ritual of its worship. The wickedness and the imagination of man’s mind will be continually evil. Never in history should mankind be so degenerate, the lustful appetite of many in shocking wickedness is beyond words to describe here - the ‘obscene orgies’ spirits of ancient Rome returning again. The gentile world has forsaking God’s knowledge. And He will give them up in the lust of their hearts; dishonoring their own bodies in savage and unnatural acts in the degrading power of sin. This is because they exchange the truth for a lie, raveling in shameless acts of immorality and utter disregard for decency” - End of quote.
After God made man, He instructed him on what to do, and what not to do. In Genesis 2 vs. 16-17 “And the Lord God commanded the man, saying of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat. Vs17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shall not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shall surely die.  Eve thought she could outsmart God. This was an idea from the devil which she could have rejected to keep the commandment of God. But she failed into the snare of devil’s idea. “And the serpent said to her you shall not surely die. Please read Genesis 3:1-6. Her love for pleasure drowned her away. So she went against the word of God.
Jesus warned in the scriptures, “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world (1Jn 2:15-16). And to love the world is to be in enmity with God (Jas 4:4). And all that are in the world are all vanity, says the writer of Ecclesiastes.
The love for the world has pushed many into delusion and unimaginable perversion. And about 70 per cent of the times, pornography falls into the hands of children. A brother when he was a teenager, found a stash of his father’s magazine. He browsed through the pictures. Though he later became a Christian in college, the images stayed with him and so did his habit. He kept his fantasy world intact making sure that no one found out about his secret pleasure. He both loved pornography and hated it.
He got married, but communication problems began to develop because he could never be honest and open. Whenever the conversation got too personal he learned how to steer it toward a more comfortable topic. He knew if His wife ever found out she would simply increase his growing sane of shame. When at last his secret came to light and his wife discovered his addiction. She found it difficult to forgive him, she had thought she knew her husband, but this revelation made her realize that she had been living with a man she did not even know. Thankfully, their marriage recovered when they learned there is hope for addiction and, yes, trust can be rebuilt.
There was a time, when pornography was confined to adult magazine sold under the counter. Today through the video recorder even more powerful pornographic images are brought into the homes. Many sit peering into the screen enjoying virtual images in some instance translated to them. Movie industries [Nollywood, Bollywood, Hollywood and other demonic woods] have brought more harm to our homes than good. Our society has become what the films have created. A harlot said I am what movies have made me. Our movie industries have ruined the young people of this world.
When we link our computers to the World Wide Web [internet], a snare is being set. I was invited to a website through a link on my face book page. What I saw after clicking on the invitation link was unimaginable. I had a dream that night of evil beings trying to pin me against a wall in my own room. It was a horrific experience, but I interpreted it as a warning from God. Something had entered my room that would seek to destroy me. Satan had a plan to ruin me right where I lived. I am grateful for that warning. This is because any time I am tempted to re-enter the dark world of internet pornography, I just have to remember that I would be submitting to an enemy whose goal is my destruction.
Quote from Neal Frisby: “The last computer that will get into the hands of the people will be cell phone. This will take multitude of forms; witchcraft, sorcery and the occult will flourish, and also wizardry in computers, electronics and the wrong type video games. One game called Dungeons and Dragon has caused some teenagers to murder people already. New movies of horror and fantasy bringing terror through special effects will take its toll on the minds of the youths. The prince of darkness will use electronics, computers and new inventions of science to control the minds of the people” - End of quote.
Cell phones have brought evil into many homes. All that were hidden to the children in some godly homes are now accessible through their cell phones. Many teenagers are struggling with pornography because of the x-rated websites. Again many are being possessed by the demons of lust through visiting these sites. Our cell phone is a product of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And through this, Satan has polluted the minds of the people. Eccl 7:29 says: “Lo this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions”. What man calls invention is actually foolishness and misuse of knowledge. This will bring his doom.
Businessmen, pastors, etc, lodged in hotels do have the opportunity to see pornography often without cost, in their rooms even if they did not order a movie. The cable channels are filled with every kind of pornography imaginable, along with violence and occultism.
A writer for television    streams is quoted as saying we must get people to laugh at homosexuality, adultery and incest, because laughing breaks down their resistance to it. Many comedy shows portray one sex perversion or the other. Many comedians use illicit words that corrupt the mind while entertaining the people, and people just respond with bolts of laughter.  Some therapists even tell their patients that they need to experience their “dark side” in order to be helped. They lead them into the world of pornography and sexual experience. That, of course, is equivalent to telling a mouse “you have to try traps before you are to master them”. We are not necessarily born with a love for gambling; we are not born with a love for alcohol. But most acquire it by attempting. But because we grow up with persistent sexual appetites, sexual fantasies are never far from our minds. Our sexuality is so much a part of who we are, that it is almost impossible {especially for men} to live without battling impure thoughts.
A hymn by George Heath expresses the danger: “My soul, be on thy guard, ten thousand foes arise. A host of sins are pressing hard, to draw thee from the skies”. Half of the Christian men surveyed struggle with pornography at some level, according James Dobson. People no longer have to look for it. Rather pornography comes to them; and it takes a frantic effort to say no. Lust is no respecter of persons, neither does it give up. It never runs out of ideas. Bolt your front door and it will rattle at the bedroom window, crawl into the living room through the TV screen, or wink at you, out of a magazine, or through your cell phone. Through entertainment media, unimaginable perversions have been registered into the minds of the younger generation. That is why it is becoming difficult and rare to see youths that are serving God in truth and in spirit. But if we want to see God, purity of heart is necessary - Matt 5:8.
Is pornography just a harmless pleasure as many screams? You have probably heard the old line that pornography is a “victimless crime” and that it has no detrimental effect on the user. That is a lie from the pit of Hell. Just ask the wives of husbands immersed in pornography. Just have an honest conversation with a user and read the reports of sexual offenders. There is no doubt that when you see perversion, you want to act out perversion. A man who walked past an open window and became tantalized about raping a woman whose form he had just seen, did just that ‘to see what it was like’. He later testified just like many other rapists, that he was greatly influenced by the sexual violence he had seen in pornography. A young woman who had no lesbian desires became enamored with lesbian pornography on the internet. She found herself intrigued by something that had previously repulsed her. Soon she found herself seeking out a lesbian partner to experience what she had seen.
Pornography makes a profit from the ruined lives of young women and entraps men who will spend lots of time and money succumbing to their product. We might think that the things we see and hear don’t affect us, yet we all admit that good music, movies, and good books add a lift to our lives. They can educate us, just as uplifting media can benefit us. Pornographic images can negatively affect us, and finally send the soul of the user to hell.
Images are not always neutral. They can persuade us. Producers and marketers know that if they can get a persuasive image of their product in front of you during highly emotional moments, it will sink into your subconscious mind. The advertising scientists are good at what they do. Imagine the effect of a movie that keeps your attention glued to the screen for an hour and a half with sexually explicit images. What kind of ideas is pornography putting into our heads? If the wrong things keep getting dumped in, your mental environment can get so polluted that your life is going to have problems. Finally, pornography affects the soul, the mind, the emotions and the will. Yes, pornography kills the soul and steals the heart. Worse, it grieves God.
Where do we turn to, for help? What hope is there for the person who participates in singing hymns in the church with the images he saw that week flooding through his mind? What do we say to that person who asks forgiveness only to indulge again? Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied, [Proverbs 27:20]. The struggle for purity of mind and heart did not begin with the invention of the cinema culture. 1 Peter 2:11-12 says, Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;  12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.  In the same book, Peter tells believers that they should be done with sin (chapter 4 vs 3). For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries.  Yes, we must live free from the debasing practices of the world, abstaining from sinful desires because we are different from the world. Total abstinence is highly needed so as to overcome the corruption that is in the world. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.  Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.  For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Take a moment to think of the people you know who have lost their witness to the world because they have fallen into sexual sin:
That young girl down the street with an unwanted pregnancy.
That young brilliant boy that dropped out from college because he became unplanned father.
Ministers, Missionaries, Bible teachers rubbed to the mud because they ate the devil’s porridge.
Devoted husbands and wives who are now victims of broken home.
A minister who often spoke in various churches spent most of his secret moments poring over ‘the magazine’. When he was finally able to talk about his struggle and seek help, he made his observation. I could rationalize what I was doing except for one fact I know; what I was doing grieved the Lord I loved and my habit disrupted my fellowship with Him, and that hurts. Yes, a life of impurity. So drastic action is needed - Evangelist Kelly Williams.
Are you ready to give up your secret life and addiction for the sake of eternal life? If yes, admit that you struggle with pornography. Believe me you are not strange or unusual if you do. There is no shame when it comes to gaining freedom. Millions of men and women are at various stages in the struggle with pornography. It’s really not surprising. The X-rated industry has spent billions of dollars trying to snare you. Is it really shocking that they have succeeded?  But God is ever ready to set free and to deliver. Yes to God is a no to the devil.
Pornography entraps you with lies, in contrast, God leads us into truth. Sin not only enslaves us, but distances us from God. And for this reason, our Lord Jesus Christ came to deliver. Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden I will give you rest (Matt 11:28). Are you bound with yoke of pornographic addiction? Jesus is ready to save you from this burden of sin. For there is no salvation in any other (Acts 4:12), There is one God, and mediator between God and man (1 Tim. 2:5). Though your sins be as scarlet, he shall make them white as snow. And this is the confidence that we have in Christ that He is able to deliver and to save us, as you summit whole heartedly to the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
God bless and keep you till the day of His appearing. Amen!
